Halloween

Matthias and Elizabeth love Halloween.  Now that they are older they remember more about what it is and can enjoy the anticipation.  And Lizzy loves coming up with different outfits to wear.

We started out enjoying the month of Halloween by making spooky cookies.  Grandma Lewis was kind enough to get the kids some edible googly eyes, black frosting, and sprinkles to make our pumpkin cookies amazing.

One of Josh's professors at Emory hosts and annual Bring-Your-Own-Pumpkin carving event.  We had fun catching up with some of Josh's classmates and the kids enjoyed carving pumpkins, seeing the goats, and jumping on the trampoline.  Sadly, I didn't get a great picture with the kids and their pumpkins, but they did help to clean them out after carving so that the pumpkins would last a little longer.

We enjoyed getting ready for the ward Trunk-or-Treat.  Lizzy was very happy to go as an Anna (from Frozen) Fairy (please note the fairy wings she is wearing).  She loved putting make up on and getting to wear Anna braids (one of her favorite hair styles).  And Matthias was excited to be a skeleton and was very patient to get so much make up put on.  He loved how it made his face look, but after running around and sweating some of it off he decided that make up wasn't for him.

All dressed up!
Lizzy also had a fun little Halloween party at school.  She decided to dress up as Jesse (from Toy Story) this time.  Luckily the hair and make up were similar to Anna so it was an easy switch for her mom.  :)

Finally, we loved spending some of Halloween evening with our friends the Bridges.  Dinner was delicious and we played some fun games.  The kids laughed hard when trying to pass the spider ring along some straws.  Please note that by this time Lizzy was on her third Halloween costume (complete with sparkly Aurora hair) and that we found a skeleton costume for Matthias.

We ended Halloween evening was some great trick-or-treating.  The kids had a blast and slept really well that night.
